Today we launch the Nominet Internet Awards to promote UK best practice and celebrate achievement and innovation on the Internet.  Building on the success of the Best Practice Challenge over three years, we will recognise those organisations, groups or individuals who have embraced the challenge of making the Internet a secure, open, accessible or diverse experience. Winners will be promoted in the UK and internationally as examples of best practice.
 
UK based organisations and individuals are encouraged to enter the Nominet Internet Awards and entries are invited up to 1 April 2010. Winning entries will be announced at an awards ceremony in July 2010.

The five award categories are:

•  Getting people online
•  Making the Internet safer
•  Opening the world of knowledge
•  Empowering young people and citizens
•  Nurturing powerful local partnerships
